Artist Interviews

MuzicNotez: First off, it’s an honor to be doing this interview with you, thanks for taking the time to sit down with us.

What motivated you to start creating music? What age did you begin?

  • Carlos Overton: Thanks the feeling is mutual, what motivated me was watching music videos as a kid. First being a fan loving music thanks to my mom. Then at the age of 15 being a poet, & then being convinced by my friend Josh to turn them into raps & the rest is history.

MuzicNotez: Who were your musical influences, idols, or bands growing up that have helped mold you into the musician you are today? Or helped mold the music that you create?

  • Carlos Overton: 2 Pac was definitely the artist that inspired me like myself he wasn’t just a rapper but a poet.
His songs had emotion & had a meaning, when i started as a artist my style was very similar to his due to me being such a big fan. Then years later i finally find my own sound.

MuzicNotez: What’s the ultimate goal you want your music to achieve, or for you to achieve in your career as a musician? Any particular message you wish to send?

  • Carlos Overton: The ultimate goal is for my music to still be relevant years later after it’s released. To be international instead of just a local artist, for my music to put my state Minnesota on the map when it comes to rap music & talent. The message i want to send to the world through my music is to let my fans the listeners know that whatever that they are going through that they will overcome it & that they are not alone.

MuzicNotez: What’s the greatest concert you’ve ever been to or performed?

  • Carlos Overton: The greatest concert that i performed even though that they didn’t give us artists a mic check which upset me,was opening for rapper Paul Wall in Miami Florida. I got the chance to meet him he was real cool & take a picture with him. After that i had the opportunity to watch him perform which was great since I’m a big fan of his.

MuzicNotez: Your latest release is the debut self titled album ‘Cold Lyrics On Site (C.L.O.S.)’, how would you describe this album? What does it mean to you?

  • Carlos Overton: This album which is my first release is basically introducing me to the world as a artist. This album has something for everybody & has a lot of talent when it comes to the features. This album symbolizes just the beginning of what i got to bring to the table.

MuzicNotez: What was the production process like to create your album?

  • Carlos Overton: The production was incredible compliments of Dari Secktor, who produced & mixed down the entire album. He helped me find my sound & allowed me to pick all of the beats which i really appreciated. There was a certain theme that i was looking for for the entire album & i found it with his help.

MuzicNotez: How did you come up with the name C.L.O.S.?

  • Carlos Overton: Well my friend Ronald gave me the nickname C-Los, which i used as my rap name until i noticed that there were a lot of artists going by the same name. So my friend Damar suggested that i change it to C.L.O.S. standing for Cold Lyricist On Site. So that way i stand out from all of the rest.

MuzicNotez: What else are you working on? What can we expect to see and hear from you in the future?

  • Carlos Overton: Well i have my 2nd solo album titled (Old Money) coming out this year that i finished. Then some time next year i have my 3rd solo album titled (New Money) which i also finished. Both produced & mixed by Dari Secktor. Then after that be on the lookout for my 4th solo album titled (Anotha Level) coming out in 2024 which i finished which is probably my favorite project out of all of them due to it showing how versatile i really am as an artist.

MuzicNotez: Anything else you wish to say about yourself or your music? Any message for your fans?

  • Carlos Overton: What i can really say about myself is that no matter what i never gave up on my craft even though i was doubted by many. I truly believe if God gives you a gift to never take it for granted. To all my fans I’d like to say thank you for all of your support, & I’ll never let you down supplying you with music worth listening to for years to come & whatever goals you have in your life to never give up keep your faith in God & believe you can accomplish anything you set your mind to.
