Interview with Pop Artist Antonio Lopez Fernandez on ‘DESDE MI SILENCIO’ & more

MuzicNotez: First off, it’s an honor to be doing this interview with you, thanks for taking the time to sit down with us. What motivated you to start creating music? What age did you begin?

Antonio Lopez Fernandez: It is an honour for me to be able to speak with you and your audience and I would like to thank you first of all… I started creating music when I was very young. In fact, since I was a child I would write down my emotions in a notebook and then play at putting them to music by inventing melodies and recording them on old cassette tapes. I started singing on a TV show when my mission was as a co-presenter and I did everything and from there they encouraged me to record my songs.

Who were your musical influences, idols, or bands growing up that have helped mold you into the musician you are today? Or helped mold the music that you create?

Antonio Lopez Fernandez: My musical influences were the great Spanish balladeers of the 70s and the English pop of the 80s are the two musical genres that I am passionate about.

What’s the ultimate goal you want your music to achieve, or for you to achieve in your career as a musician? Any particular message you wish to send?

Antonio Lopez Fernandez: The goal of my musical career is to be able to transmit the emotions of my heart and convey the words of my soul to the public because the public is the one who decides and for me the most important thing is to be able to transmit love to them in each lyric and melody.

What’s the greatest concert you’ve ever been to or performed?

Antonio Lopez Fernandez: The best concert I have ever attended in my life was one by THE ROLLING STONES in Barcelona and I really liked the power of their lyrics and the best thing was that I performed the first time I sang in public in a small town in Spain and I was very nervous and in the end the public liked it. 

You’re pushing music from your album ‘DESDE MI SILENCIO’ now, how would you describe this release? What does it mean to you?

Antonio Lopez Fernandez: This album is a work in which I try to convey situations in love such as that you have been unfaithful to your partner or you have been unfaithful to him/her, also that you fall in love with someone and you only live that love in your imagination and also when you feel that everything advances and at the same time advances, that is to say, I describe in each song situations that I think we have all experienced at some point in our lives.

What is your process to creating your music?

Antonio Lopez Fernandez: My creative process is simple. I grab my notebook and start writing about situations I have experienced and I delve into my heart and then when I have the lyrics I start to put them to music and square them up and when I have the skeleton of the song put together I meet with all my collaborators and we start to contribute ideas and corrections and experiment with sounds and lyrics because I give a lot of importance to teamwork.

You write your own music, what inspires the music that you write?

Antonio Lopez Fernandez: My music talks about love and heartbreak and everything I’ve experienced because in my relationships I’ve been a disaster but I believe in love because love is the force that moves everything.

What else are you working on? What can we expect to see and hear from you in the future?

Antonio Lopez Fernandez: I am preparing new songs also in English and I also have a film project.

Antonio Lopez Fernandez: Well, I want to thank the audience and the public because thanks to them I can sing and I owe everything to them.
