Interview with Christian Hip Hop artist BRUH RAHDRK on new album ‘DRUDGERY Hard Work Pays Off’ & more

MuzicNotez: First off, it’s an honor to be doing this interview with you, thanks for taking the time to sit down with us. What motivated you to start creating music? What age did you begin?

BRUH RAHDRK: My musical journey began when I was fourteen years old. I have experienced my first freestyle rap after creating an instrumental of the MC Eiht song “Streiht Up Menace” by recording loops on a cassette tape. I didn’t realize I had the gift in me until the moment I shared my recorded freestyle with my parents as their response was inevitable. I grew up playing basketball since the age of five, so for my parents to hear me on record was unbelievable as they both waved their hands as to say, “Get out of here, that isn’t you.” That is when I knew I had something unique, and stuck with it.

Who were your musical influences, idols, or bands growing up that have helped mold you into the musician you are today? Or helped mold the music that you create?

BRUH RAHDRK: Today I would label myself as a Christian Rap artist, but not have I always been just that. As a teenager, I was influence into song delivery idolizing C-Bo, banging his album “Autopsy” mocking his aggressiveness and storytelling. Then there was 2 Pac, Spice 1, Illegal, NWA, Bone Thugs N Harmony, Scarface, as another best storytelling artist, and then there was X, DMX. The music I create today have been inspired by following Lecrae, Bizzle, Bryann T, KB, just the whole Christian Hip Hop genre itself.

What’s the ultimate goal you want your music to achieve, or for you to achieve in your career as a musician? Any particular message you wish to send?

BRUH RAHDRK: I never really given thought to what my music will achieve, but it does come to mind where it would land. The music I create are messages to give hope to those who are broken from their faith walk; as to give hope and strengthen them in their weaknesses. When a pastor is called to shepherd a Church, he is elected to shepherd the few or more he is accounted. Therefore, if he has 500 members then his responsibility is to reach 500 souls. God will do the rest. My music (church) may be big or small, it is most important that I reach the few souls I am accounted. That would be my biggest achievement.

What’s the latest release of yours? Tell us about it.

BRUH RAHDRK: My album “DRUDGERY: Hard Work Pays Off” is my latest release as it hit over 80,000 streams in the first week. It’s also the very first album release under my label Sacrifice Muzik LLC. It taken me quite some time to complete the album due to its authenticity and transparency behind the title, DRUDGERY. Drudgery is defined as hard labor. Spiritually put, it has taken a lot of growth and work to have gone through what I have gone through to get where I am now. Songs like, “Come Back Home” and “Let It Rain” are my most effective joints as the both share how I have overcome the obstacles. As for the song, “In Our Prayers” shares a deeper side based on my upbringing, and fallen into depression as a Christian. It’s an album created to introduce myself as a believer and for the listener to identify hope.
