Artist Interviews
Interview with genre bending Hip Hop Artist CJ Stowklyn on New Album ‘Neural Order’, his Sound & More
MuzicNotez: First off, it’s an honor to be doing this interview with you, thanks for taking the time to sit down with us.
What motivated you to start creating music? What age did you begin?
- CJ Stowklyn: I started making music at a young age because it felt like the best way to express myself creatively. Growing up in Arizona, music became an escape and eventually turned into my purpose.
Who were your musical influences, idols, or bands growing up that have helped mold you into the musician you are today? Or helped mold the music that you create?
- CJ Stowklyn: Artists like Travis Scott, Childish Gambino, Kanye West, really inspired me because they all created worlds around their music instead of staying inside one genre.
What’s the ultimate goal you want your music to achieve, or for you to achieve in your career as a musician? Any particular message you wish to send?
- CJ Stowklyn: My goal is to leave a legacy and make timeless music that inspires people to be themselves and think bigger creatively. I want people to feel understood when they hear my music.
What’s the greatest concert you’ve ever been to or performed?
- CJ Stowklyn: Touring with Mark Battles in 2024 was definitely a huge moment for me. Performing across the U.S. and the U.K. in cities like London, Bristol, Portland, and Denver helped me grow a lot as an artist.
Your about to drop your new album ‘Neural Order’, how would you describe this new release?
- CJ Stowklyn: ‘Neural Order’ feels futuristic, emotional, and high energy. It’s a mix of raw emotion and experimental production that creates its own world sonically.
The album fuses genres hyperpop, EDM and rap together to create a fresh new sound for you, what brought about this concept?
- CJ Stowklyn: I’ve always loved blending sounds together naturally instead of boxing myself into one genre. I wanted to create something unpredictable that still felt authentic to me.
What has the process been like to create ‘Neural Order’? How do you go about creating your music?
- CJ Stowklyn: The process has been really hands-on and experimental. I usually build ideas from emotions first, then layer production, melodies, and visuals together until it feels complete.
What else are you working on? What can we expect to see and hear from you in the future? Tell us about the new singles coming up leading to your new album.
- CJ Stowklyn: I’m working on more music, visuals, fashion concepts, and bigger live performances. Fans can expect more creative risks and a lot of new content soon.
Anything else you wish to say about yourself or your music? Any message for your fans?
- CJ Stowklyn: I appreciate everyone supporting the vision from the beginning. Stay true to yourself, keep creating, and thank you for growing with me on this journey.
