Artist Interviews
Interview with Pop Artist Ellory Grace on her new single ‘Threads’, songwriting & More
MuzicNotez: First off, it’s an honor to be doing this interview with you, thanks for taking the time to sit down with us.
What motivated you to start creating music? What age did you begin?
- Ellory Grace: I’ve always had a lot of thoughts and questions running through my head, and music became a way to make sense of them. I started writing lyrics and stories in my early teens, often inspired by ideas, observations, and questions I couldn’t stop thinking about. When something stayed with me, I’d keep coming back to it and adding to it. Looking back, I didn’t realize at the time that many of those thoughts would eventually become songs.
Who were your musical influences, idols, or bands growing up that have helped mold you into the musician you are today? Or helped mold the music that you create?
- Ellory Grace: Some of my favorite artists are the ones who make songs feel like conversations. Noah Kahan, Olivia Rodrigo, and Gracie Abrams inspired me because their music feels honest and personal. I love songs that make you stop and think, “I’ve felt that before.” Those artists showed me how powerful storytelling can be in music.
What’s the ultimate goal you want your music to achieve, or for you to achieve in your career as a musician? Any particular message you wish to send?
- Ellory Grace: My goal is to write songs that stay with people. I’ve learned that the thoughts we think nobody else has are often the ones the most people relate to. If someone hears one of my songs and realizes they’re not the only person asking those questions or feeling those things, that’s a success to me. I don’t want people to feel so alone. Sometimes all it takes is realizing someone else had the same thought you were afraid to say out loud.
What’s the greatest concert you’ve ever been to or performed?
- Ellory Grace: One of my favorite concert experiences was watching thousands of people sing every word to a song that clearly meant something to them. Seeing that connection between an artist and an audience reminded me why music matters so much. It showed me how a song can become part of someone else’s story, and that’s something I hope to experience with my own music one day.
You’re releasing your second single entitled ‘Threads’, what’s the backstory to this track? What’s it mean to you?
- Ellory Grace: “Threads” started because I was trying to describe what anxiety actually feels like from the inside. Not just anxiety itself, but the fear and overthinking that can come from worrying about anxiety before it even happens. I started writing about racing thoughts, restlessness, and feeling stuck while everything around me kept moving. Then one lyric changed the entire song: “Will my grandkids ever feel this?” Suddenly it wasn’t just about one difficult moment. It became a question about healing, hope, and whether the things we carry today have to be passed on to the people who come after us. That’s why “Threads” is such a personal song for me.
When listeners hear ‘Threads’, what are you hoping they take out of it? How do you want them to feel after hearing your song?
- Ellory Grace: I hope people feel seen. Anxiety can feel incredibly isolating, and sometimes it feels like nobody else understands what you’re experiencing. If someone listens to “Threads” and thinks, “I’ve felt that too,” then the song has done what I hoped it would do. More than anything, I hope people walk away feeling a little less alone and a little more hopeful.
You co-wrote this track, what’s your writing style like? What inspires the music you write?
- Ellory Grace: It usually starts with a story. I’ll get stuck on an idea, a question, or a moment and keep thinking about it long after everyone else has moved on. I start writing pieces of it down, trying to understand it better, and eventually those pieces turn into lyrics. I’m inspired by real life, the way people think, the things we don’t always say out loud, and the questions that don’t have simple answers.
What else are you working on? What can we expect to see and hear from you in the future? Tell us about the new singles coming up leading to your new album.
- Ellory Grace: I’m currently writing and recording new music in Los Angeles and working on several upcoming releases. Every song explores a different question or experience, whether that’s identity, self-discovery, friendships, or figuring out who we are while we’re still growing. I’m excited to continue releasing music throughout 2026 and sharing more songs that spark reflection and conversation.
Anything else you wish to say about yourself or your music? Any message for your fans?
- Ellory Grace: Thank you to everyone who has listened to my music and supported me so far. The fact that people take time to connect with something I wrote means more than I can explain. If there’s one thing I hope people remember, it’s that you don’t have to have everything figured out right now. We’re all learning as we go, and sometimes the questions are just as important as the answers.
