Interview with Pop Artist McKenna Camille on New Single ‘Airplane’, her Creative Process, Fashion & More
MuzicNotez: First off, it’s an honor to be doing this interview with you, thanks for taking the time to sit down with us.
We last talked about a year ago, how have you grown as an artist in that time?
- McKenna Camille: I’ve grown so much! I’ve had the opportunity to write music with so many new people, all people who have helped me grow as a songwriter and overall artist. I feel more connected to my music than I ever have.
Have your goals as an artist changed over that time? What’s the biggest goal you’ve achieved so far?
- McKenna Camille: I feel as though my goals are ever evolving and changing with time but stay under the same umbrella always. This past year I’ve really leaned into my art whether that be singing, painting or anything in between and that’s been my favorite achievement.
Your newest single is called ‘Airplane’, what inspired this track?
- McKenna Camille: A close friend found herself in a cheating situation and this song is about her finding out and the emotions following.
How would you describe the new single?
- McKenna Camille: It’s quite depressing when you listen to the words, and it’s an amazing song to blast in your bedroom for an interpretative dance moment.
What is your process like when creating new music?
- McKenna Camille: I always focus on lyrics. Words are the first thing I notice in any piece of music and that is consistent in my own work. I typically have the full song written before I even think about any instrument.
You have a show coming up too, when fans come to see you perform, what can they expect from your performance?
- McKenna Camille: I’m performing so many unreleased songs!
Additionally, you’re a fashion designer and actress, how do you think those creative ventures feed into your music career?
- McKenna Camille: All my art is connected because of how honest it is. I love colors and chaos and that can be seen in everything I do.
What else are you working on? What can we expect to see and hear from you in the future? Tell us about the new singles coming up leading to your new album.
- McKenna Camille: I have so much new music coming and I’ve started a side project band called “BLUEBERET”!
