Zouj Artist Interviews

MuzicNotez: First off, it’s an honor to be doing this interview with you, thanks for taking the time to sit down with us. My pleasure thank you for reaching out to me

What motivated you to start creating music? What age did you begin?

  • Zouj: Probably boredom, I would have skated but the cOoOl skater guys of my neighbourhood were total ass-wipes so making music killed time.

I maybe started at 13-14 years old

MuzicNotez: Who were your musical influences, idols, or bands growing up that have helped mold you into the musician you are today? Or helped mold the music that you create?

  • Zouj: I generally had an interest in music and all kinds of subgenres, no particular names or idols are comming to my head. The internet influenced the amount of weird stuff I had access to, so maybe just the internet. The internet as in the thing, not the band “The Internet”

MuzicNotez: What’s the ultimate goal you want your music to achieve, or for you to achieve in your career as a musician? Any particular message you wish to send?

  • Zouj: I wanna become a millionaire, invest in crypto, go to the moon with a bunch of assholes and buy myself a set of turkish implanted hair. If that doesnt work i´ll just do whatever weird music I want and have the opportunity to go out and play it with my friends.

MuzicNotez: What’s the greatest concert you’ve ever been to or performed?

  • Zouj: I once played a show with my hardcore band when I was 19 in a place called Pardubice in some rehearsal room. There were more people in the band than in the audience and I stuck my head in a microwave for fun, there´s still a picture of this which I cherish a lot.

MuzicNotez: Your latest track is the 2 track EP ‘Death of Me’ featuring Sahareya, what’s this release mean to you? What inspired it?

  • Zouj: It´s not a 2 track EP its how spotify presents tracks together which is totally dumb – its just two singles. 4 track EP is comming out July 13th 2023.

Sahareya inspired it I finally get to produce a proper rap-centric album.

MuzicNotez: Real hard to label your music in any genre, it’s so unique, how would you describe it?

  • Zouj: I´d describe it as “pretty cool stuff” really.

MuzicNotez: You’re a French, Morrocan, American, living in Berlin. With all of these worldly influences, how has that affected you as an artist?

  • Zouj: I was born in France, my mother is Moroccan and my father is from the US. I have an interest in north african music out of spite and because I have access to it since I visit family there yearly, my mother herself mainly listens to funk soul booty bassline party stuff and most the music that’s been shoved down my throat since i´m born is from the USA so my father has little to do with that.

MuzicNotez: What else are you working on? What can we expect to see and hear from you in the future?

  • Zouj: I´m working on an album. Prolly some pretty cool stuff but this time I hope with a lot of pretty cool people on it.

MuzicNotez: Anything else you wish to say about yourself or your music? Any message for your fans?

  • Zouj: Yes a message to my fans : follow me on myspace we bringing this shit back baby.
