Noah James Hittner Album Artist Interviews

MuzicNotez: First off, it’s an honor to be doing this interview with you, thanks for taking the time to sit down with us.

What motivated you to start creating music? What age did you begin?

  • Noah James Hittner: Growing up, my mother was in two different bands. She put food on the table with music. I’ve been in love with music since my memory began. Funny enough, however, I didn’t pick up the guitar until my mid-thirties. Once that happened, there was no going back.

MuzicNotez: Who were your musical influences, idols, or bands growing up that have helped mold you into the musician you are today? Or helped mold the music that you create?

  • Noah James Hittner: My mother, of course, was the first. She would grab her Alvarez classical acoustic guitar and play us to sleep with old folk and pop songs of the 70s & 80s. Growing up on a Wisconsin Dairy farm, I listened to everything from The Oak Ridge Boys and Boxcar Willie, to The Fat Boys and Neil Diamond. Later on, I gravitated to Hip-Hop and Grunge-Rock with acts like Smashing Pumpkins, Green Day, Pearl Jam, Black Sheep, 2Pac, and many others. Since picking up the guitar, I’ve been pulled in the direction of a more Rootsy and Bluesy vibe, listening to acts such as The Pines, Charlie Parr, Junior Kimbrough, and Lightin’ Hopkins.

MuzicNotez: What’s the ultimate goal you want your music to achieve, or for you to achieve in your career as a musician? Any particular message you wish to send?

  • Noah James Hittner: It’s been my intention for some time to leave a wholesome footprint on the consciousness of my species, through music, writing, and the like.

MuzicNotez: What’s the greatest concert you’ve ever been to or performed?

  • Noah James Hittner: I had a great time at a Live concert in the 90s. They had just released their Secret Samadhi album. We moshed. It was loud and fantastic.

MuzicNotez: Your latest release is the album ‘willing’, how would you describe this album?

  • Noah James Hittner: It’s a multi-genre album which uses Blues, Folk, Hip-Hop, R&B, and Electronica to tell stories of truth, family, and love. With that album I finally started making all of the music I’d ever wanted to make.

MuzicNotez: You’re from our home state in Wisconsin, what’s the music scene like for an independent artist here?

  • Noah James Hittner: I’ve performed all over the state, northern border to southern border, Mississippi River to Lake Michigan. There’s a lot of music here, and a lot of talent. I’m just grateful to be a part of it.

MuzicNotez: You’re a multi-genre artist, how would you describe your sound?

  • Noah James Hittner: Smooth, ambient, string-bendy goodness.

MuzicNotez: What else are you working on? What can we expect to see and hear from you in the future?

  • Noah James Hittner: I’m looking at around 150 live shows this year along with working on solo album #4 as well as my 4th book.
