California Americana band, The Sweet Potatoes, are a 3 piece consisting of Kelly Macleod, Laura Hall and Rick Hall. They continually deliver amazing live performances, and now have released the new album, Headin’ Home. They worked with a lot of other amazing musicians to create this album, too many to list.
The 12 track album, Headin’ Home, plucks along beautifully, crossing Americana, folk, country, bluegrass and of course country genres. The harmonies are masterfully sung with heaps of passion. The story telling song writing is classic, the instrumentals are spot on. I love how they took the Fleetwood Mac song ‘Second Hand News’ and totally made it their own. Every song on this album is a gem, and I can easily listen to this from front to back, over and over. Can’t wait to hear what’s next for the Sweet Potatoes, but you can bet you’ll hear it here!
