“Dusty Eyes” when it begins, will immediately transport you to the mid-nineties when woman musicians such as Mazzy Star and Kate Bush were at the top of their genre. You can even hear a twang reminiscent of Patsy Cline infused into the Guitar opening. The Music has a mood to it; a sort of gravitational calm goes over you.
Her name is Bedouine, a word meaning a Nomadic Arab of the desert; which makes sense because her music and Velvet over a bustling spring voice will take you on a lullaby like journey. “Dusty Eyes” is her first single off of her upcoming June 23rd Album.
The Lyrics are simple yet balanced with heartfelt reason. After melting us with melody and purpose, her gentle lukewarm “Oh the way I feel about you now” makes you feel like everything is going to be ok. A song should make you feel something, it should reach inside you and pull your soul out and say “LISTEN” and Bedouine is well on her way of doing just that.
From her exotic yet poignant name to her tendrils of melodic poise; a new artist she may be but the more you listen the older you realize her musical soul is! Bedouine is a welcome breath of fresh air and a marvelous addition to the eclectic group of woman in music! Female Musicians are no longer taking prisoners and I think 2017 is going to be a great year again for strong female artists to rise up and show people what music is about!
