With a pure voice and an upbeat feel, the latest single from up and coming country pop artist Maria Jordan has a lot to recommend it. Released independently through her own label JTC records, the single is out in late February, and is more than likely to find its way into your head long beforehand.
It’s an upbeat yet mellow gem, with a familiar pop sound based on a tuneful vocal and major acoustic chords. In less assured hands, this might have the feel of a manufactured act running off the production line, but that’s only because it’s so well mixed and recorded. In fact, it’s only available thanks to the independent work ethic Jordan prefers to employ, and all the better for it.
Having supported the likes of Newton Faulkner, The Script, James Morrison and Paloma Faith, it’s clear that Maria Jordan’s sound has wide appeal. Her rockier last single ‘Better Than Nothing’ unsurprisingly found its way onto mainstream radio, and with any luck this will do the same.
