Interview with Country Artist Austin Tolliver on New Album, thoughts on Nashville & what’s next
MuzicNotez: First off, it’s an honor to be doing this interview with you, thanks for taking the time to sit down with us. What motivated you to start creating music? What age did you begin?
Austin Tolliver: I started music for real in about 2018. I was 30 years old and a buddy of mine was like let’s write a song. I said hell, I’m not just gonna write a song, I’m gonna try and take this shit over. Two years later I signed with Average Joes and couldn’t even begin to describe how lucky I am to be with this label. They are my family!
Who were your musical influences, idols, or bands growing up that have helped mold you into the musician you are today? Or helped mold the music that you create?
Austin Tolliver: I’m from Louisiana and that’s what molded me. The music culture I grew up on is what I wish everyone grew up on. We listened to everything. I mean at a bawn fire you’d hear George strait, Tim McGraw, Toby Keith, Colt Ford, it would then switch to boosie, Wayne, 3-6 mafia, lil John, Nelly, then it would switch to Dave Matthew’s, Corey smith, and Benjy Davis project. We grew up on it all and that blend of styles is what made me decide to try and make my music fit all those cross genres.
What’s the ultimate goal you want your music to achieve, or for you to achieve in your career as a musician? Any particular message you wish to send?
Austin Tolliver: I come from a line of winners and it was ingrained in me from a young age that everything you do, you do it to win. So, I’m trying to achieve greatness. Everyone says well I want my music to speak to people and yeah that’s a true fact I do hope my songs help people or make people feel something when they need it but I also want to keep it real and say I’m not here to be mediocre I’m here to be the best. It’s going to be quite the challenge with as much talent that’s in this business but I’m going to make sure me and my fans make our mark.

What’s the greatest concert you’ve ever been to or performed?
Austin Tolliver: They are all great. Wether there is 1 person or 75k people at a show it doesn’t matter to me. People work their asses off in this world today and if they decide to use that hard-earned money to come see my show and blow off some steam then I’m gonna always give them all I got because they have earned it.
Your latest album is ‘Bad 4 U’, which is great! What inspired this album? What makes it different from previous releases?
Austin Tolliver: The bad 4 u album is a little different than my previous album because I was in a completely different head space and a completely different place in life. This album allowed me to try some different sounds and different blends and allowed me to kind of branch out and sing some songs in different styles then what people may have been used to but I really enjoyed it.
You have a diverse background of musical influences, how has that shaped the music you create?
Austin Tolliver: It shaped me by allowing me to cross genres multiple times in a project and also combine genres in the same project. I’m a little country, a little hood, a little country club, and a little backwoods.
How has moving to Nashville changed your life? What has your Nashville experience been like?
Austin Tolliver: Nashville has been amazing to me. I have lived here for about 11 years now and I wouldn’t trade it for the world. Nashville has seen a lot of highs, and some lows, and helped lift me up in this journey of life. It’s one of the best places in the world.
What else are you working on? What can we expect to see and hear from you in the future?
Austin Tolliver: I have some of the best stuff I have ever done coming up here in the last parts of 2024 and leading into 2025. Me and my producer Dylan Maloney have found the things we have been looking for and we are bringing fire every time we do anything. He has helped mold and form my sound into what’s about to come out and it honestly is the biggest blessing to my career. We are about to give the fans songs that are undeniably great and we are going to shake up the top of the charts. I guarantee you that.
Anything else you wish to say about yourself or your music? Any message for your fans?
Austin Tolliver: I don’t really have anything to say about my self, hell i been talking about myself a little too much in this article lol, I just want to speak to the fans. My message to y’all is simple, thank y’all so much for rockin’ with me, thank y’all so much for the love and support, and I promise y’all all im gonna make y’all proud!
