Interview with Jen Ash Artist Interviews

MuzicNotez: What motivated you to start creating music? What age did you begin?

  • Jen Ash: Music was always in me . I always wanted to be a singer but it seemed unrealistic and unreachable . I just didn’t have the confidence to follow my dream and be bold until I turned 25 . I was playing Priofesional basketball in France and I decided to move to California to pursue my music career . It was for me the opportunity to be far away from family responsibilities and judgement and be free to explore who I am and discover the artist in me.

MuzicNotez: Who were your musical influences, idols, or bands growing up that have helped mold you into the musician you are today? Or helped mold the music that you create?

  • Jen Ash: Celine Dion was one of the biggest artist I admire. She sings in French and English . Her vocal range is incredible . Christina Aguilera and Pink were the two other women that inspired me . The power of Christina’s vocal and the edginess of Pink helped me become the artist I am today . Amy Winehouse created a universe for herself and she is very unique and irreplaceable . I think it’s important to be truth to yourself and create your own world by being different . When it comes to my music I relate more to Snoh Aalegra . Very R&B and story telling lyrics.

MuzicNotez: What’s the ultimate goal you want your music to achieve, or for you to achieve in your career as a musician? Any particular message you wish to send?

  • Jen Ash: The goal is to build a bigger audience to touch as many soul as possible . I make music to connect and inspire people . I wanna be a part of their lives , for the good and the bad moments . I want to be there for anyone in need of inspiration or motivation. I really want to play live more often and go on tour to once again meet with people and share some beautiful moments.

MuzicNotez: What’s the latest release of yours? Tell us about it.

  • Jen Ash: “Trouble” is a tribute to the late Amy Winehouse. I wanted to give a little Amy Winehouse vibe on this one. I’m a big fan of her music. She created an entire universe for herself.
She is definitely gone too soon. The song is so jazzy and bluesy. it takes me back in time. The saxophone adds another dimension to the song, where I feel like I am immerse in a 50/60’s black and white movie.”

The music video is coming out July 7th . Stay Tuned
