Hot off the Circus, the EP is now available from bandcamp.com
Having been described as a “terrific four piece band” (The Times) whose music is “intense, haunting and pulsating” (The Independent), it is sure enough that Fireproof Giant are experiencing a whirlwind of recognition with the release of highly anticipated EP ‘A Place to Start’.
The EP has a refreshing, poignant sound with honest lyrical and musical influences. The soulful, charming vocals make for a relaxing composition which leaves the audience truly captivated. It is no surprise the EP is receiving such positive appreciation from fellow musicians including Coldplay front man, Chris Martin.

Fireproof Giant:
Gareth Jones – Lead vocals, guitar, piano, accordion, glockenspiel
Ashley John Long – Double bass, backing vocals
Joel Rees – Drums, trumpet, backing vocals
Cat Jones – Violin, backing vocals

The EP opens with ‘Pandora’, an eerie, hypnotic piece which intrigues the listener, giving a taste of what else is on offer. Other tracks, ‘Gather You’ and ‘Cover Up’ are more upbeat with intricate guitar riffs and catchy hooks. However, title track, ‘A Place to Start’, is a powerful and moving piece about starting over again which includes a melodic piano and double bass accompaniment to give the single a more layered tone. Having been mastered by Andy ‘Hippy’ Baldwin (Blur, Mark Ronson, The Who), the EP has a top quality, solid sound production.
The idea behind Fireproof Giant came from front man, Gareth Jones, who was writing and performing with Nofit State Circus, collaborating with numerous musicians from a variety of cultures globally. Audience demand for more music and live performances increased, resulting in the conception of Fireproof Giant. After touring with the circus and live theatre for 6 years the group decided to leave and pursue their musical ambitions producing raw, original and sincere pieces.
Fireproof Giant’s wealth of experience has seen their music played on Channel 4, S4C, BBC radio 2 and BBC London; with vast potential and support, 2014 could well be their year.
