Interview with Hip Hop Artist JuiceThaBlackBeethoven

MuzicNotez: First off, it’s an honor to be doing this interview with you, thanks for taking the time to sit down with us. What motivated you to start creating music? What age did you begin?

JuiceThaBlackBeethoven: Hey, MuzicNotez Team, THANK YOU for taking the time to interview me and present my song, “I’M A WINNER,” to the world! This is an honor for me, to be interviewed by you!

I started creating music and writing songs on a serious basis in 1979 after spending a few months collaborating with a friend on some original songs. I had graduated with a Music Degree a year before, with a major of Classical Piano Performance, but I had absolutely little to no interest, nor experience in creating songs, nor music….but after writing with this friend, it occurred to me that I could do this on my own, and maybe I could do it even better….

Who were your musical influences, idols, or bands growing up that have helped mold you into the musician you are today? Or helped mold the music that you create?

JuiceThaBlackBeethoven: I have four (4) major influences, in no particular order, and they are: Stevie Wonder, Billy Joel, Elton John, and the late great Prince… but I’m also GREATLY influenced by Mary Chapin Carpenter, Smokey Robinson, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Rodgers and Hammerstein, Stephen Sondheim, Gamble and Huff, Holland/Dozier/Holland, Thom Bell, the late, great, Maurice White (of Earth, Wind, and Fire), Johnny Cash, James Brown, Tupac Shakur, and many others…

What’s the ultimate goal you want your music to achieve, or for you to achieve in your career as a musician? Any particular message you wish to send?

JuiceThaBlackBeethoven: My ultimate goal is to be one of the GREATEST hit songwriters and composers for TV/Film, and for Pop Music, period!

What’s the greatest concert you’ve ever been to or performed?

JuiceThaBlackBeethoven: Back in the late 1990’s, Elton John and Billy Joel briefly toured together, and one of their shows was in Cleveland, Ohio, where I lived….it was the most incredible show that I ever saw….two of my all-time favorite musicians, songwriters, performers, playing all my favorite songs! It was pretty incredible…

Your latest release is the single ‘I’M A WINNER’, what inspired this track? How would you describe it?

JuiceThaBlackBeethoven: I would say that this song is an “old-school,” 90’s Hip-Hop song with very positive, powerful lyrics about working hard, staying positive, and hopefully reaping the rewards of one’s own hard work…but I hope that the message people get from hearing this song, is that whether you get the “reward” or not, that working hard and staying true to one’s pursuit of one’s goal, is always the real reward…

You’re a songwriter, what is your songwriting process like?

JuiceThaBlackBeethoven: I listen to music, and to songs, all the time….I listen for the lyrics of the song to get the message that the songwriter(s) is trying to convey…and for me, I always start with the lyrics…a unique title, a feeling, a phrase or short group of words that will hit my ear, my heart, and will “puncture” my songwriting heart enough to start writing…

How do you record your music?

JuiceThaBlackBeethoven: I have a couple of good friends, who are both musician/producers/songwriters who have great home studios, and who can produce quality, industry-standard music and songs…and they allow me to have access to their studios, whenever our schedules permit… or when I have a new song!

What else are you working on? What can we expect to see and hear from you in the future?

JuiceThaBlackBeethoven: Thanks so much for asking this one… I’m currently working on several new Christmas/Halloween tunes, as well as a couple of orchestra/movie trailers…I expect to have a the new Christmas song, as well as the new Halloween song out in time for this year’s celebration…I’m also working on a couple of new Country and R&B/Pop songs…

Anything else you wish to say about yourself or your music? Any message for your fans?

JuiceThaBlackBeethoven: In closing, I just have to say, “THANK YOU” again to the entire MuzicNotez team for taking the time to interview me, and to present my song, “I’M A WINNER,” to your audience, and hopefully to the world!
