Interview with Keyon Harris on New Album ‘Me and You Against the World’ & More
MuzicNotez: First off, it’s an honor to be doing this interview with you, thanks for taking the time to sit down with us. What motivated you to start creating music? What age did you begin?
Keyon Harris: I started writing songs at the age of 11 because I was a shy child so I expressed myself by writing down my thoughts.
What’s the favorite release you have on your Bandcamp page?
Facebook.com/keyonharris97
Instagram: keyonharrismusic
X: KeyHarrisMusic
Keyon Harris: My Bandcamp has almost every single song that I have released on there, but I always felt a closeness to my last Album “Refocus”. There are a lot of good tunes compiled on it.
What kind of content are you pushing on your YouTube channel?
Keyon Harris: I’m going to start trying to do some lyric videos for my upcoming releases. I have been saying that I’m going to do it, but I haven’t gotten around to it yet. I would like to try and get enough subscribers to monetize my channel as well.
What’s the greatest concert you’ve ever been to or performed?
Keyon Harris: : I’ve never been to a concert nor have I performed, but I would most definitely love to perform at The Grammys one day.
Your latest release is ‘Days Like This’. What inspired this track? What does it mean to you?
Keyon Harris: : At the time that I wrote ‘Days Like This’ I was going through some tough things. My dad had just passed away, and I had just left my distributor/music publisher. All of the songs I released through them had been taken down from every streaming platform. I had to start over and I was none too thrilled about it. It seemed like I just couldn’t catch a break. So that’s where the title came from. I hope that people can hear this and know that they can overcome any obstacle or obstacles thrown their way.
How do you create your music? Do you have a home studio or do ya record elsewhere?
Keyon Harris: : I have a little home studio if you can call it that haha. A computer, a microphone, a keyboard, and the Soundtrap DAW. That is what I currently use, but I’m hoping to upgrade my sound.
Do you write your own music? What inspires the music you create?
Keyon Harris: : Yes every song I’ve released has been written by me, except for the one I did with my friend Gme Yung Mac. That song was called “Top Down”, he and I co wrote it. I have a lot of thoughts, feelings, etc. an so it all just comes naturally to me. I want to be am inspirational figure to others by uplifting them, encouraging them, motivating them, and being a beacon of positivity an light amongst so much darkness/negativity going on in this crazy world.
What else are you working on? What can we expect to see and hear from you in the future?
Keyon Harris: : I’m working on multiple projects as we speak. I’m hoping to release new music almost every month or every other month for the next several months. It starts with my song called “The Music”. It’s a song about failed relationships, and the only thing that ever loved me back was in fact the one thing I been trying to push away and run from this whole entire time. The music. I’m hoping to release it no later than early to mid April.
Anything else you wish to say about yourself or your music? Any message for your fans?
