Interview with Leila’s Rose on Debut Rock EP ‘Make It Easy’ & More

MuzicNotez: First off, it’s an honor to be doing this interview with you, thanks for taking the time to sit down with us. Introduce yourselves, what are your names and rolls in the band?

Leila’s Rose: Thanks for having us! Our band consists of Adam Kays (Lead Guitar), Easton Ritz (Lead Vocals), Kadin Williams (Rhythm Guitar/Vocals), Connor Drahota (Bass), and Micah Hansen (Drums/Backing Vocals).

How did you meet and form up? How long have you been together?

Leila’s Rose: Myself (Adam), Kadin, and Connor went to school at the University of South Dakota in 2021. We joined Easton and Micah’s fraternity and decided to form a band. We started out by playing basement shows and fraternity parties but have since progressed to playing across the upper Midwest.

How did you come up with the name Leila’s Rose?

Leila’s Rose: Our college fraternity’s official flower was a rose, and the person who came up with that idea was named Leila. We never thought we’d really do much other than play some local bar shows and house parties, but the name stuck.

Who were your musical influences, idols, or bands growing up that have helped mold you into the band you are today? Or helped mold the music that you create?

Leila’s Rose: : We have a ton of influences. As a collective band, some of our favorite musical influences include Peach Pit, Title Fight, Her’s, The Backseat Lovers, and Cage the Elephant.

What’s the greatest concert you’ve ever been to or performed?

Leila’s Rose: : The greatest show I probably ever went to was when I saw Fleet Foxes at The Steelhouse in Omaha back in 2023. It was probably one of the tightest and best sounding shows I have ever been to. In terms of shows we have played, back in 2023 we got the opportunity to open for 24KGoldn, which was really cool.

What’s the ultimate goal you want your music to achieve, or for you to achieve in your career as a band? Any particular message you wish to send?

Leila’s Rose: : We obviously want to “make it”, whatever that means. I think for us it is ultimately getting to the point where we can do this full time. Right now, the goal is to get more music out and play shows in new places.

You recently dropped your debut EP ‘Make It Easy’, which we are loving! What inspired this release? How does it feel to have that out?

Leila’s Rose: : We had been writing some of these tunes for a while. Evergreen was the first song Easton and I wrote. I know he had been sitting on Vodka Soda for awhile too. We just wanted to make something fun and authentic. It feels great to have something on platforms for people to listen to and I think it’s a great first step forward for the band and our art.

You’ve become known for putting on some great live shows already. Any pre-show rituals? What do you think sets your concerts apart from others?

Leila’s Rose: : Sometimes there is a little acapella warm up that goes on before we walk out. I think the thing that sets our live shows apart is the energy we have on stage. We want the audience to know that we are fully invested in the music and that we are having a blast playing for them.

What else are you working on? What can we expect to see and hear from you in the future?

Leila’s Rose: : We just got some more studio time booked for this summer, so that is very exciting. We plan on booking more shows in some new locations as well as releasing some new songs before the end of 2025.

Anything else you wish to say about yourself or your music? Any message for your fans?

Leila’s Rose: : Thanks to everyone who has supported us so far! It genuinely means the world to us!
