Interview with Song House Duo NAVI on Debut Self Titled EP, How They Formed, Creating Music & What’s Next
MuzicNotez: First off, it’s an honor to be doing this interview with you, thanks for taking the time to sit down with us.
Introduce yourselves, what are your names and rolls in the duo?
NAVI: Hey what’s up we’re Navi – Nathan & Kevi.
How did you meet and form up? How long have you been together?
NAVI: We met through SongHouse at a writing camp, we were paired together and told to make some “acoustic magic”. Not knowing what would come out of it we wrote a song that took a liking to Tyler and the other campers. We’ve been working together for the past 7months.

How did you come up with the name NAVI?
NAVI: We took a poll on instagram accepted through a ton of names and one name stood out that made absolute sense and that was our name Navi, Nathan, and Kevi.
Who were your musical influences, idols, or bands growing up that have helped mold you into the band you are today? Or helped mold the music that you create?
NAVI: Nathan: I’m influenced a lot by people like Bob Dylan and Bon Iver or Dominic Fike and Harry Styles so it was a lot of fun combining those with Kevi’s hip-hop.
Kevi : I would say I’m influenced by artist like Jcole , Anderson Paak , Roy woods , Tyler the Creator , Ye when he’s in his producer bag. Merging my sound with Nathan was like merging 2 worlds together bros definitely one of my favorite people to work with.
What’s the greatest concert you’ve ever been to or performed?
NAVI: The greatest concert we’ve performed together would probably have to be the recent storytellers event. Sharing the stage , hearing people sing the songs was everything!
What’s the ultimate goal you want your music to achieve, or for you to achieve in your career as a band? Any particular message you wish to send?
NAVI: Collectively we love for people to feel loved & seen when they listen to our art. Bringing others into our which is fun and creating timeless art that anyone can listen to is what we’re here for.
Ya just dropped your debut, self titled EP with Song House, which we are loving! How does it feel to have this out now, and see it being so well received?
NAVI: The album is out now! First off big shoutout to SongHouse partnering with us to bring this to life & our amazing producer Micah aka Mad Scientist we couldn’t have done this without them. The feeling of seeing people sing and share what came from our hearts is a feeling that feels overwhelmingly amazing. Shoutout to all the playlist & everyone who pushing play listening to our song we love & appreciate yall!
You have such a unique and original sound, how would you describe it? What was the process like crafting your new sound?
NAVI: Goes back to our inspirations we merged our two sounds together and there you have Navi. The process was fun it’s like being in the studio with your friends making music and hanging honestly.
What else are you working on? What can we expect to see and hear from you in the future?
NAVI: We have a lot of music in the works together and individually that we can’t wait for the world to hear so stay tuned for that it’s a super exciting season that we can’t wait to talk more about in the future.
